being a huge fan of terrible b-movies i thought this was the greatest film i've ever seen. people with regular tastes may disagree, however.

SQUATTING BETWEEN A ROOT CANAL AND WATCHING PAINT DRY: OASIS OF THE ZOMBIES... I am a huge fan of B-movies: biker flicks, horror, rock-n-roll, jungle, sci-fi, etc., but this thing just about broke me. Zombie movies are my favorite and this is THE worst, in my opinion: Insanely bad dubbing, a 20+-minute flashback (that should have taken 3...oh, right, PADDING), obnoxious, droning "African" music (from the old "Chandu The Magician" radio show?), and an aimless script. This might make a scary little campfire story, but those only last 10 minutes, tops. The one good thing was the make-up. It was cheap, but inventive (although Franco stole the live-worm thing from Fulci). I found myself staring at the walls, thinking about errands I could run after the film was over, for stretches of time. Ed Wood, Jr., got a bad rap. Franco is undoubtedly the most UNTALENTED filmmaker in history. Not "so bad, it's good" but "so bad, it hurts!!!"

As far as B-movies go this is horrible. It's so boring, and the cinematography is just plain awful that one can hardly tell what's going on during the action sequences. The only part worth a look is somewhere between 1:18:00 - 1:20:00. And if you can't just skip to that location then don't waste your time.

well.... quite typical jess franco. very pseudo-everything. don't expect too much fun. I liked it for the bizarre theme and some athmospheric moments. hey - how often do u get to see this, zombies, nazis, and an oasis? rare stuff, download now!
